The HVACR industry has heavily invested in the development, distribution, sale, and installation of new refrigerants and phasing down the use of HFCs. HARDI supports the American Innovation and Manufacturing Act (bill number S.2754) to phase down the production of HFCs over a scheduled period of years. A schedule phase down provides predictability for the direction of the refrigerant industry for manufacturers, distributors, and contractors.
States have begun to act on HFCs because of the lack of federal phasedown, if states continue to act, it will raise costs on distributors to have a patchwork of state regulations instead of a single federal standard. Passage of the AIM Act is the best solution for our industry.
