Last night, Representatives Paul Tonko (D-NY), Pete Olson (R-TX), Scott Peters (D-CA) and Elise Stefanik (R-NY) introduced the House version of the American Innovation and Manufacturing Act (AIM Act), allowing the HVACR industry to transition to a new generation of refrigerants and maintain US leadership in air-conditioning and refrigeration technology.
HARDI supports a national HFC phasedown through the AIM Act, because it provides certainty to the industry and provides a single standard nationwide instead of a patchwork of state regulations. Additionally, the AIM Act would create new manufacturing jobs in the United States, spur further investment in the U.S. economy by the HVACR industry, and ensure the continued safety and training of licensed HVACR professionals.
This legislation would establish the same phase-down timeline as the Senate AIM Act and is part of a bicameral strategy to pass this important legislation. It is very important for HARDI members to contact their members of Congress to ask them to support this important legislation.
